Who is Playing Fantasy Football and Why?

Lots of people would love to be able to create their own football teams and manage them, and fantasy football allows these people to give rein to their imaginations. How many people do you see screaming at the players or the coach from the sidelines, certain they could do a better job if they managed the team, or complaining after the game about the bad decisions? Fantasy football is for these people, and for anyone who loves the game.

In fantasy football, you get to manage your own football team via the internet. Your virtual team is made up of real players, and they own all the stats and points their real life counterparts do. In order for your online players to do well, their actual versions must do so too.

You can just play with the statistics, or you can have a simulated game, and make predictions about winners. This technology has made the game popular with all kinds of people.

Are All Men Just Boys at Heart?

The first fantasy football league was in the 1960s, before the age of the internet. Now with today's technology the game is more sophisticated and faster, and growing in popularity all the time.

Many fantasy football players are men, as you might expect from the numbers you see at games, or watching the real sport on TV. These men will not abandon the real game for the fantasy one, but will go home, watch it again on TV, and plan their teams online.

What about the Girls?

Women enjoy fantasy football too. Some of them want to share their men's interests, or to learn about the game, and this is a great way to do these things. There are also quite a lot of kids enjoying fantasy football, which they can do without taking too much time away from study, and without leaving school to go to a game.

So there are all sorts of people enjoying fantasy football, and no pattern has emerged as to which kind of person enjoys it more, or is better at it.

There are now websites and online forums which supply tips on strategies, budgeting, drafting and so on, and these can be excellent sources of help for people new to the game. As well, there are books and magazines on the topic of fantasy football, which can be good places to learn about new developments in the game, and you can also purchase software to help keep track of your progress or manage your teams more effectively.

There are gatherings of players held at casinos and restaurants around the country, as well as conferences, where you can meet fellow players and play instant games against them, as well as getting to know people who share your interest.

There are plenty of fantasy football websites for you to choose from. Get to know the rules of the game first, and find out the site's regulations about online behaviour, before you join and create your team.
